The first in a new Connected Care in Action webinar series, jointly hosted by Canada Health Infoway and Longwoods Publishing titled:
At the Front Line: How AI Is Giving Clinicians Time Back

      From the website:

Clinicians across Canada are overwhelmed, not just by patient volumes but also by the growing burden of documentation. Clinical notetaking has become one of the most time-consuming and burnout-inducing aspects of practice, especially in primary care. The result? Less time for patients and more strain on an already stretched system.

This session explores how a new generation of tools, AI scribes, are beginning to shift that balance.
Designed to support clinicians by streamlining documentation in real time, these secure, AI-powered solutions are gaining traction across Canada and internationally. But what are they, how do they work, and what does responsible adoption look like in a Canadian context?

We’ll unpack the evolving role of AI documentation tools in clinical workflows, drawing from both international insights and early Canadian implementations. The conversation will explore the practical, ethical, and system-level considerations for integrating AI into care, including how these tools can reduce administrative burden, improve data quality, and ultimately, give clinicians more time where it matters most: with their patients.

The session will feature a preview of Canada Health Infoway’s new AI Scribe Program, a national initiative aimed at equipping up to 10,000 primary care clinicians with innovative documentation support tools. This is part of a broader strategy to modernize care delivery and reduce administrative strain.

      What You’ll Learn:

      • Why documentation burden is a key driver of clinician burnout in Canada

      • What AI scribes are, how they work, and where they’re gaining traction

      • How AI is being responsibly integrated into real-world clinical workflows

      • The role of AI in improving data flow, interoperability, and clinician experience

      • How innovative tools and programs are accelerating Canada’s journey to more connected, patient-centred care
