Our health data is the key tool for our providers to determine what our diagnosis and treatment should be.

It is particularly important for us when our data does not flow to our providers as it should, and when it does not flow in a timely basis. This can cause harm --- and we don't talk about this!

Read this full report to learn more:

Or at least check out the summary report:

Or in French: Summary Report - Data Disarray - FR - FINAL.pdf

@Alies-Maybee Many thanks for highlighting this report Alies!

For some reason the links only showed the front cover of the report, but it had enough info to find both the full report and Executive summary here: https://www.albertavirtualcare.org/reports

One statement from the summary that really encapsulates the issue for me is:
The overarching picture that emerges is of a public policy environment that has not been designed, but rather evolved in the absence of a coordinated or informed plan, and generally fails to support the opportunities offered by contemporary digital health information technology.

Sadly, I think the same could be said of the health system as a whole.

I’ll share a copy of the report with the Virtual Care Standard group at HSO, it’s hugely helpful in defining some of the issues underlying and undermining the delivery of virtual care services.
