The goal of the Roundtable is to build on the progress of integrating caregivers as essential care partners across all healthcare settings in Ontario and collaborate on future opportunities to advance the recognition and empowerment of caregivers.

The Roundtable will coincide with the one-year anniversary of the Essential Care Partner Support Hub, led by the Ontario Caregiver Organization in partnership with Ontario Health. Matthew Anderson, President and CEO of Ontario Health, will be our keynote speaker.

      Background
While COVID-19 has put a spotlight on the important role of caregivers as Essential Care Partners (ECPs), there is more work to do to fully integrate ECPs into the healthcare system across Ontario.

In early 2023, Ontario Health partnered with the Ontario Caregiver Organization (OCO) to create the Essential Care Partner Support Hub. The Hub is a go-to resource for OHTs, healthcare providers and administrators to provide guidance in their journey to collaborate and integrate essential care partners at the point of care. The Hub has resources to support healthcare organizations to embrace ECPs as extensions of their teams – especially as they work on integrating home and community care, digital and virtual services, and navigation services for patient experience.

The Ontario Caregiver Organization Roundtable event on February 29, 2024, will advance the recognition and empowerment of caregivers across all healthcare settings and sectors in Ontario.

      Participants
The OCO roundtable will bring together 65-75 of the following participants across the province’s healthcare system: government leaders, key system influencers, OHT leaders, OHT partner organization representatives, subject matter experts, organizational leaders, caregivers, patients/clients and (front-line) health care professionals, with an eye to diversity across sectors, communities, cultures and experiences.

We are looking for patients who have experience with their Essential Care Partner being included as part of their circle of care or understand the importance of the integration of caregivers. The OCO will offer an honourarium for patients, in addition to covering the cost of transportation and hotel, as needed.

@Marion-Knutson Thanks. I had deleted my post right after I posted it, as the last part of Alies' post was not showing up on my end at first. I didn't realize anyone could still see my post, it shows as deleted on my end.
