Creating the conditions for safe care

The report is out!
Over the last 3 years we have been collaborating with a committed group of people who recognized early on in the pandemic that in order to optimize virtual care in the province we need to work together. As a group we also recognized that virtual care can't be optimized if it is a separate system that isn't integrated into the toolbox that a patient's care team has access to.
Additionally, care teams need access to information in order to make decisions and deliver safe care - this is foundational regardless of whether the interaction is virtual or in-person.
So last week the Health Data Interoperability Working Group (a sub-group of the Alberta Virtual Care Coordinating Body that I co-chair with Ewan Affleck and Wayne Clark,) released a report called "Interoperability Saves Lives." I have shared some more of my thoughts and why I believe this is important this here:

I am so grateful for the work and commitment of this group. I learned a lot from the different perspectives and expertise and hope that the release of this report is just the beginning. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you are interested in this work or have questions or ideas to share with us.
If you want to stay in the loop on the Alberta Virtual Care work there is a link to register at the bottom of the
