Helen Bevan posted on Twitter recently on this topic that I think many of us wrestle with. I know I certainly do:
"Should you take on that new project? Even if you already have a massive workload or too many existing priorities, the answer should be "yes" if it connects with the things that motivate you at the deepest level. 3 questions to ask yourself, based on the 3 levers of intrinsic motivation:

Play: will this project create pure joy for me, right now?
Purpose: does it connect with my unique zone of genius or my greatest dreams or goals?
Potential: will this project help create a life I love?"
