The National Monitoring Mechanism team and the Office of the Federal Housing Advocate at the Canadian Human Rights Commission would like to invite you to a virtual Learning Circles event.

We have heard that housing is a top concern for people with disabilities. The purpose of this event is to better understand the reality of disability rights and the right to adequate housing in Canada. It will also help us determine what we should be tracking to see what progress is being made in Canada.

During this event, you will participate in a small group discussion to share your thoughts and experiences. We will be compensating eligible participants for their time.

We will be asking two key questions:

What do you think needs to be better understood – by governments, service providers and the public – about the right to adequate housing for people with disabilities?
To help us track progress on the right to housing for people with disabilities, we need to know: who is not being listened to, and what stories, experiences, and information need to be added to the picture?

For more information on the event, please visit the following page: https://www.chrc-ccdp.gc.ca/en/learning-circles

We are pleased to organize these virtual events in collaboration with IRIS (Institute for Research and Development on Inclusion and Society).

      Interested? Please register!

For the English-language, ASL and English Captioning event:

      WHEN: Thursday, December 1, 2022
      TIME: 1:00 – 3:00 pm Eastern

Click this link to register: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwsdeuqpj4sGdMMCPyKe2XCii2wkB19gzXi

If you are interested but unable to participate during this round of Learning Circles, please know that we will be hosting more events like this next year so we can hear from more people.

If you have any questions or if you would like support to register, please email us at: NMM-MNS@chrc-ccdp.gc.ca. You can also contact Keyanna Shaw, from our supporting partner IRIS, for help with accessibility or technology related issues in English at kshaw@irisinstitute.ca or at 519-771-8935.

      Thank you,

      The National Monitoring Mechanism Team
