Engaging patients to improve health care at UBC Faculty of Medicine

This is revolutionary! Carolyn has donated to the UBC Faculty of Medicine to create the Canfield Distinguished Scholar in Patient Partnerships at UBC. Her intention is to augment UBC’s leadership and scholarship in the field of patient and community partnerships in health care.

Ranked among the world’s top medical schools with the fifth-largest MD enrollment in North America, the UBC Faculty of Medicine is a leader in both the science and the practice of medicine. Across British Columbia, more than 12,000 faculty and staff are training the next generation of doctors and health care professionals, making remarkable discoveries, and helping to create the pathways to better health for our communities at home and around the world.

This is an inspiring plan and vision, taking patient engagement to another level.

We can see at UBC there’s willingness among many to advance our work to shape tomorrow’s practitioners. This seems like an idea that will have an out-sized impact.

WOW- bravo Carolyn ! this is wonderfully inspiring news. What a legacy . I am excited to share this on the east coast and hope it is the beginning of one more pathway for patient voices. Perhaps the patient partner community can help nudge other med schools .
