This was on PAN's Twitter account:

The Capacity for Patient Engagement: What Patient Experiences Tell Us About What's Ahead

Here's just one good point she made.

"The investment in professional capacity to partner with patients contrasts sharply with the missing equivalent for patients asked to meet ever more demanding roles."

Sometimes I am "Tech ABLE" did some searching AND .... in Google simply keyed in: Health Quarterly Carolyn Canfield and looked for her article title.

Thanks, Annette for posting this link.

                  Hi everyone!

I would love to hear from everyone about your reaction to my ideas in this article. I wrote from my unique experiences and observations over the past ten years as a patient advisor. But your experience will have been different!!

How is it going where you are? Do my provocations or challenges ring true for you? What did I miss? What do you think health professionals will make of my point of view, or the tone of the writing? I'd be delighted to hear your reactions, criticisms and suggestions for better impact. Especially, what insights can we offer "the system" that might help us do our patient advisory work more effectively? What do you think we need to change to do more effective work?

My article is just one in a special edition about Patient Engagement in Canada. It's free to access, so explore the whole volume. This journal, Longwoods "Healthcare Quarterly" is read by senior management in provider organizations, clinical leaders in the professional societies and leaders in government healthcare organizations in all the provinces and territories, plus the federal government. Many of them have no idea what work we do, but like to tick the box of "patient-centred care", "patient advisors" and slogans like "what matters to you". Others are really advancing the work in true partnership.

A BIG THANKS to all who will offer your opinion here to start a discussion. You are welcome to write privately to me at carolyncanfield@mac.com.

                  Best wishes,
                  Carolyn
