Patient Engagement BINGO
-
This was a hot topic on Twitter, and once the BINGO card was created bAndre Picard retweeted it, so it got a lot of views.
I can't add a picture in this post but it's on our PAN site.
In the menu there is a cation called Share. There is a drop down mwnu - choose photo galleries, then choose Health Cartoons. You will find the bingo card there. I was not able to add a new photo topic, so cartoons is where it is.
50 reasons we are not included.
Here are some of Twitter comments
Picard said: ICYMI - Partnering with patients BINGO. Here are some excuses for not including patients in conferences and research - none of them valid.
Carolyn Thomas said "Calling BINGO on reasons NOT to engage people with lived experience" - use this when discussing whether or not to include patients in your next medical conference/patient engagement event/research committee!
As a patient volunteer I'm downloading & using it to make a point at an appropriate time. Thanks! Credit of course to the authors.
sounds so familiar! Mythology about patient engagement: "Patient stories are anecdotal" "We are already patients centred (& have the survey to prove it)" "Patients are too emotional" "We are only interested in feedback (not partnership)"
Christine Maika put all of the comments together.

Hi Annette,
I seen the BINGO card on social media. I feel it was well done and got the point across. It show that there are too many bad reason not to include patients.
It was nice to see Andre Picard retweet it.

Great if somewhat depressing list! Let's see if anyone has success stories where PE is working well. Alies
