      Hi PAN members,

Just released is this fantastic resource, really practical and full of information and, indeed, tools. Prepared by the Consumers Health Forum of Australia, a nationally funded independent charitable organization.

      "Experience-based Co-design: a Toolkit for Australia" LINK

Take a look and I'm sure you will be impressed by the clarity of the language and the thinking. Australian healthcare services and culture are different from Canada, but not so much that we can't borrow from this terrific compendium.

In Australia for many years, who we call "patients", they call "health consumers". It takes a little getting used to, and there are plenty of Australian citizen-patients who aren't too comfortable with the "consumer" label, either.

The acknowledgements credit contributions from the great innovator Lynne Maher from New Zealand who began her work as a powerhouse at the Institute for Innovation and Improvement for the UK's National Health Service. Also credited is the internationally influential UK researcher Glenn Robert who coined the label Experience-based Co-design 15 years ago.

I'd really love to read your reviews posted here. Let us all know how you can use bits and pieces for your work as an advisor right now. Or how we can spread the knowledge and experience with collaborators and colleagues.

Thanks for downloading and looking over the toolkit, and then offering your feedback.

Cheers and my very best for the new year,
      Carolyn

Thanks for this Carolyn- I am looking forward to reviewing this very comprehensive document. I would like to have a better understanding of how to use co-design in a variety of health care settings or other consumer situations
