For our upcoming meeting, we'll be discussing the theme "Functional but Difficult to Navigate" — the idea that Canada's healthcare system delivers reasonably good care, but that the complexity of accessing and coordinating that care is becoming the real barrier.

This framing comes from the 2026 Healthcare Assistance Index™, released July 14, 2026 by Novus Health (a Toronto-based healthcare navigation company). The report forecasts that future healthcare performance will be judged not just by wait times or spending, but by how confidently Canadians can navigate the system — shaped by digital health, care navigation, health literacy, benefits integration, and care coordination.
