New Speaker Series Announcement
AI4PH, in collaboration with the Office of Public Health Field Services and Training at the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and the PHAC AI Hub., is pleased to announce a new six-part speaker series, “From Pilot to Practice: Applying AI in Public Health,” running from September 2026 to February 2027.

Each 1.5-hour session will feature expert presentations from practitioners and academics, followed by 30 minutes for questions and discussion. Presentations will be in English, and participants are welcome to ask questions in the official language of their choice. All sessions will be recorded, translated into French, and hosted on our website for a limited time, making them accessible for those who cannot attend live.

Session 1: Introduction to AI in Public Health

Speaker: Dr. Laura Rosella

In this introductory session, Dr. Laura Rosella will outline the core tenets of AI4PH, including how AI is currently being used across the public health system, key opportunities and risks, and why responsible AI and health equity must guide its application. This webinar is designed for public health professionals, trainees, independent researchers, and others interested in how AI can support population health goals while addressing equity, governance, and public trust.

Dr. Rosella is a Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, and the Canada Research Chair in Population Health Analytics. She leads collaborations across Canada to translate advanced analytics into practical solutions for real-world public health challenges and is the Nominated Principal Investigator of AI4PH, a CIHR-funded national training and research initiative.

Other sessions in this series will include: 'AI Methods in Public Health', 'AI in Practice' and 'Building AI Capacity in Public Health'.
