Just stumbled across a BMJ blogpost from 2021 which described a project in Boston to reduce diagnostic delay. Designed as an add-on to an EHR, they developed a tool (OurDX) that contacts patients in advance of a scheduled appointment and, using standard questions, allows them to describe issues, symptoms and priorities and set agenda items for their appointment. The full post can be read here:

      https://blogs.bmj.com/bmj/2021/10/14/co-development-of-ourdx-an-online-tool-to-facilitate-patient-and-family-engagement-in-the-diagnostic-process/

The tool, which was co-designed with patients and families, then populates the EHR to allow the doctor time to prep for the appointment. They found that doctors frequently ordered tests based on patients’ input, which allowed faster progress towards a diagnosis.

I wondered if anyone has experienced anything similar in Canada?
