One of the groups I volunteer with as a patient partner is the UBC Health Informatics & Equity Lab. Charlene, the lead for the lab, is presenting in two webinars this week, similar talks on the same theme that I thought might be of interest.

Okanagan Embrace Aging event via Zoom:
Clinicians as data curators: Implications for data quality
12-1 pm PST Wednesday, 12 March

This presentation discusses clinician roles in shaping data quality in electronic health records and digitalized health systems. Impacts on downstream data use and clinical care provision will also be discussed.

VCH Ethics Education Forum event via Zoom:
Equity Informed AI in Healthcare: How Can Clinicians Influence Fairer AI?
      12-1pm PST Friday 14 March

For more information or to submit a question in advance of the session
      please email: ethics.forum@vch.ca

      Learning Objectives:

      • Explore the potential capabilities and considerations of integrating AI into healthcare systems.

      • Examine the role that clinicians and legacy health information systems can play in shaping data quality for AI applications and downstream impacts on healthcare equity.

      • Identify strategies to enable equitable AI in healthcare.

      Speaker:
      Charlene E. Ronquillo, RN, PhD
Assistant Professor, School of Nursing, University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO)
Lead, Health Informatics Equity Lab, School of Nursing, UBCO
