Fascinating open access article from the Liebert journal AI in Precision Oncology entitled:
The Most Disruptive Near-Term Use of AI in Cancer Care: Patient Empowerment Through Software Agents

The paper poses some fantastic potential uses of AI to empower patients, while also calling for a ‘sensible’ approach to legislation that will not ‘hinder access’. Such rose-tinted perspectives are both enticing and dangerous, since relaxed legislation is far more likely to benefit for-profit entities than patients.

I saw no mention of patient partners on the team that authored the paper - and I suspect there weren’t any. Once again this paper demonstrates that AI is a rapidly growing area of health that desperately needs patient partners involved sooner rather than later.
